In the Kitchen: 把 in Recipes
A Chinese friend wants to cook a dish from your country for her family. Write her the recipe as a message (150–300 characters): the ingredients, then each step in order. Use 把 for what you do to each ingredient, and say how to cut, mix and cook it.
- 把 + object + verb + complement for each step (把土豆切成片, 把锅烧热)
- Cooking verbs: 切, 洗, 煎, 炒, 煮, 拌, 加 or 倒
- Sequence words: 先, 再, 然后, 接着, 等…以后, 最后
- Amounts, heat and timing: 一小勺, 少许, 中火, 五分钟
