Writing practice

Suddenly: 顿时, 随即, 一下子

Write a very short story (150–300 characters) about a moment when everything changed in a second: a blackout at a restaurant, a stranger's phone call, a surprise at a station. Use 顿时, 随即 or 一下子 for the sudden change, and 不禁 or 忍不住 for a reaction the characters couldn't help.

  • 顿时 or 一下子 for an instant change of state
  • 随即 for an action that follows straight after
  • 不禁, 不由得 or 忍不住 for an involuntary reaction
  • Narrative aspect: 着 for the scene, 了 for the events

Pick with a tap, a number key or Space. A Chinese keyboard on your device works in the box below too.
