On the Road

A new foreign colleague has just bought an electric scooter (电动车) to get around your Chinese city. Write them an email (150–300 characters) with advice on the rules of the road: where to ride, what is forbidden, what to watch out for at junctions, and what to do if there's an accident.

  • Traffic vocabulary: 非机动车道, 人行道, 红绿灯, 路口, 头盔, 逆行, 罚款
  • Prohibitions with 不准 or 不得
  • 务必 or 千万 for urgent advice, and 免得 for what it avoids
  • 万一 for what to do if something goes wrong

Pick with a tap, a number key or Space. A Chinese keyboard on your device works in the box below too.
