Unit 6 review

A Chinese magazine runs an advice column called 知心姐姐 (the big sister who understands). Write a letter to it in Chinese (300-500 characters) about a relationship under strain, with a friend, a partner or a family member: how you used to get on, what the other person does now that bothers you, a moment when face or a favour made things awkward, and what you've decided to do. End by asking for advice.

  • Say how well you got on with 合得来 / 处得来 (or 合不来) and use 彼此, 互相 or 各自 correctly.
  • Complain about a habit with 动不动就 or 老是, and use one spoken pattern (爱V不V, A是A,可是…, or 说V就V).
  • Bring in face and favours: 面子, 丢面子 / 给面子, 欠人情 or 为难.
  • Use at least two 把 sentences with a negative or modal before 把, or with 得 / 一遍 after the verb.

Pick with a tap, a number key or Space. A Chinese keyboard on your device works in the box below too.
