Unit 16 review

A Chinese friend, 陈静, has messaged you: she's been feeling run-down and stressed for weeks and is putting off seeing a doctor. Write her a reply (300–500 characters). Tell her about a time you were ill: how long it lasted, your symptoms and what happened at the hospital. Then give her advice on seeing a doctor, sleep, diet and stress.

  • Durations with 了: 病了…了 / 咳嗽了…了, duration + 没 + verb + 了, and 好多了 or 不…了 for the recovery
  • Symptoms and the body: 症状, 部位, 疼痛, 肿, 发炎 or 过敏, with 一…就 for a recurring symptom
  • The hospital: 挂号, 门诊 or 外科, 诊断, 康复
  • Advice: 最好, 多…少…, 千万别, 尽量, and 要想…就得… or 使 / 令 for the effects of stress

Pick with a tap, a number key or Space. A Chinese keyboard on your device works in the box below too.
