Write an opinion essay for a student magazine on the question 'Is a white lie ever acceptable?'. Give two everyday examples, distinguish lies told out of malice from lies told out of kindness, set out the limits, and end with your own position.
- The written links of the unit: 而 (为…而…, 而非 or 并非…而是…), 则 for a consequence or a contrast, and 且, 亦, 皆 or 况且
- Ethics vocabulary: 良心, 尊严, 善意 / 恶意, 正直, 坦诚 or 坦率, 宽容, 克制, 境界
- 以…为荣 / 以…为耻, and 有所 + verb (有所减少, 有所不同)
- 无非 or 不外乎 to reduce a motive or a list of reasons to its essence
