Unit 10 review

A Chinese travel website has asked readers for a post (400–700 characters) about a region of China they've visited or would like to visit. Describe where it is and what its landscape is like, then describe the local speech: words you heard that differ from standard Mandarin, the accent, and how local people feel about their dialect.

  • Locating and characterising the region: 位于 or 地处, 以…著称, and geography words (高原, 盆地, 上游, 沿海, 峡谷, 瀑布…)
  • Local words explained with 管 A 叫 B or 就是… (e.g. 巴适, 要得, 洋芋, 贼, 唠嗑)
  • The dialect group and the accent: 属于…方言, 口音, 普通话, 听不懂/能听懂
  • A view on dialects today (方言 disappearing or reviving), with a clear written register (目前, 越来越, 对…来说)

Pick with a tap, a number key or Space. A Chinese keyboard on your device works in the box below too.
