How New Words Are Made

Your Chinese teacher's elderly mother keeps seeing new words online and has asked you what they mean. Write her a message (200–400 characters) explaining at least four new words made with productive affixes (~族, ~控, ~感, ~化, 零~, 反~): how each is formed, what it means, and an example sentence.

  • At least four new words with a productive affix
  • How each word is formed (指…, 表示…, 就是…的意思)
  • An example sentence for each word
  • A respectful, clear tone for an older reader (您)

Pick with a tap, a number key or Space. A Chinese keyboard on your device works in the box below too.
