Sentence Particles: 吧, 嘛, 呗, 啊, 呢

Write a dialogue (200–400 characters) between two flatmates deciding how to spend Saturday: one wants to stay in, the other is trying to drag them out. Use the sentence particles 吧, 嘛, 呗, 啊 and 呢 to show tone: suggesting, insisting, shrugging, softening and asking.

  • 吧 for suggestions and guesses
  • 嘛 for 'it's obvious', and 呗 for a shrugging 'then just …'
  • 啊 / 呀 to soften or show feeling, and 呢 for follow-up questions
  • A natural, colloquial exchange that reaches a decision
