Rain at the Wedding

Ana was from Seville, where it is sunny almost every day. Last June, she traveled to Ireland for the first time. Her friend Niamh was getting married in County Kerry, in a small village near the sea. Ana packed a light dress and no coat.

On the wedding day, the sky was gray, but the air was warm. The ceremony was in a garden, next to an old stone house. The guests were sitting on white chairs, and a man was playing the violin. Ana was sitting at the back, taking photos with her phone. The bride looked beautiful, and the groom looked nervous.

While the couple was saying their vows, Ana felt something on her nose. One drop. Then another. Then, suddenly, it started to rain heavily. In Seville, people run inside when it rains. Ana looked around for a door.

But nobody was running. Niamh was laughing. Her new husband was laughing too. The old grandmother in the first row opened an umbrella and kept smiling. "This is Ireland," the man next to Ana said. "We don't stop for rain here!"

Then the music started again, and everybody was dancing on the wet grass. Ana was dancing too, in her light dress, with her hair in her face. When the rain stopped, the sun came out and there was a rainbow over the sea. "Perfect," said Niamh. And Ana, wet from head to toe, agreed with her.
