-더니 Revisited: What I Saw, Then What Changed, Parte 1 de 2
Take -더니 from conversation into written narrative: join something you witnessed to the change or event that followed, keep 'I' out of the first clause, and use 그러더니 to move a story on.
-더니, Part 2 of 2: Cause and Sentence-Final Use
Use -더니 for a habit you watched leading to its result, sharpen a then-and-now contrast with 그렇게, and end a sentence on -더니 to leave an obvious (usually bad) outcome unsaid.
-았 / 었더니: I Did It, and Then ...
Tell what you did and what you found or what followed with -았 / 었더니, report reactions and effects on yourself, and keep it apart from -(으)ㄹ 때, -아서 and -(으)니까.
Contrast Clinic: -더니 vs -았 / 었더니
Tell -더니 (I watched someone else) from -았 / 었더니 (I did it, and then) in minimal pairs, see what each implies, and learn the word root 관 'see, view'.
-고 보니 and -다 보니: Realising and Ending Up
Say what you realised once something was done with -고 보니(까), what a repeated or ongoing action led to with -다 보니(까), and tell the two apart.
-는 통에: Because of All the Commotion
Blame a noisy or chaotic situation for a bad result with -는 통에, and choose between it, -는 바람에 (one sudden event) and -느라고 (your own activity).
Drill: -더니, -았 / 었더니, -고 보니, -는 통에, Parte 1 de 2
High-repetition production of the unit's connectives with regular and irregular stems (춥더니, 들었더니, 지었더니, 누웠더니, 사는 통에, 떠드는 통에, 알고 보니) in written, polite and casual Korean.
Drill: -더니, -았 / 었더니, -고 보니, -는 통에, Parte 2 de 2
Error Hunt: Who Saw It?
Find and fix the typical advanced slips with this unit's connectives: 'I' with bare -더니, commands and futures after a look-back ending, calm causes with 통에, past forms before 통에 and 보니, and one-off actions with -다 보니.
Reading Lab: The Neighbourhood That Changed
Read 서연's 한다체 essay on how her street in 성수동 went from shoe workshops to cafés, and work out what each -더니, -았 / 었더니 and -다 보니 says about where the writer stands.
Listening Lab: The Upstairs Neighbour
Follow a casual phone call in which 준호 vents to his friend 하준 about 층간 소음, catching -는 통에, -았 / 었더니 and sentence-final -더니 at natural speed, then write down the key lines.
Real-World Mission: Tell It as You Saw It
Write a 300-character 한다체 account of a change you witnessed in someone and a discovery you made after doing something, then retell it aloud in 해요 speech for a friend.
Unit 1 review: Advanced Connectives, Part 1: What I Saw and What Followed
Listen, speak and write with what you learned in "Advanced Connectives, Part 1: What I Saw and What Followed", then translate three sentences.
